Sole E35 Review

Sole E35Boasting a heavy 25-pound flywheel, a high gear ratio not found on most comparable models, and a pair of upper body handles, the E35 delivers an extremely smooth workout with plenty of top-end resistance.
Workout specifics include 16 resistance levels, ten total programs (including one custom program), and a 20-inch stride length. Perhaps the handiest feature from a user perspective, however, is the easy-to-use electronic console, which integrates a blue backlit LCD display, a cooling fan, and a water bottle holder.

Here are some great features of Sole E35

* Boasting a heavy 25-pound flywheel
* Contains unique oversize foot pedals
* Features a 2-degree inward slope that reduces the ankle and knee stress

The E35, with its power incline (the power incline works great), 25lb flywheel, 350lb maximum weight capacity, and silky-smooth movement are far and away more than you’re going to get with any other machine in this price range. While the display is fairly simple, it comes with some nice extras like a heart-rate monitor that hooks up to the display (this all comes with the machine) so that you don’t have to hold on to the heart-rate sensors throughout your workout.
It is a very quiet machine. You can really vary your workouts to keep things interesting. Sturdy and well built, and doesn’t rock at all. Machine driven incline adjustments. Simply click a button on the handle to adjust the incline or the resistance. Multiple user custom settings. This allows you to have 2 people set up their own custom workouts. The included heart rate chest strap is accurate and allows the machine to know your heart rate without having to grab the handlebars. Adjustable pedal angles help you to customize the feel of your stride so your feet don’t fall asleep.

Here’s what one of the owners had to say about the Sole E35.

The Sole E35 had all of the specific “quality” features that we were looking for such as the magnetic resistance on the flywheel, fully programmable including the incline…and was at the lower end of the pricing range for these features. The consumer reviews on this unit were generally spectacular. (Kaufman L)

Here are some great features of the Gazelle Edge.

* High-performance exercise glider for improved cardiovascular performance
* Unsurpassed range of motion goes from slow walk to full run with no sudden stops
* Easy-to-use, 5-function workout computer tracks speed, distance, time, and more
* Extra-wide, non-skid foot platforms; durable 1.5-inch rolled steel frame
* High-density foam handlebars; maximum weight capacity of 250 pounds

The steel tubing is 1 1/2 inches in diameter and looks and feels very sturdy. It requires little effort to fold the unit up for storage (snap the foot platforms onto the swing arms before sliding the frames together). It has good documentation, even on how to mount and dismount the machine.
It’s sturdy. It doesn’t weigh a ton (46 lbs to be exact). It’s whisper quiet – you can watch TV or listen to the stereo at normal levels. It has no resistance. unlike the ellipticals at the gym, you can’t adjust the resistance. it’s fixed on one setting, and it takes next to no effort to glide. If you lean forward and backward on it, you get a mini arm workout. However, you have to really lean in or tilt back to feel something for this.

Here’s what one of the owners had to say about the Gazelle Edge.

Inexpensive, quiet, and lightweight compared to motorized exercise equipment. Measures time, distance, speed, and calories (as with most machines, you have to take the calorie count with a large grain of salt). (Hartman S)

This is a very sturdy piece of equipment, and is very smooth. Unlike the hand-grip monitor that this machine and others like it have, the included chest strap monitor seems to be very accurate. The foot pads are adjustable. You can, step by step, program a specific workout with twenty different segments.
There are four basic assembly steps: connect back frame to flywheel assembly, connect post to flywheel assembly, connect arms and attach the many plastic covers. It has many different programs for a large variety of difficulties which will help keep you interested and challenged. The controls are easy to use and the buttons for the incline and difficulty level are very conveniently placed to make it easy to change the workout whenever you feel like it.

Strong – well designed. Quiet, smooth operation. We tried out a large number of elliptical trainers over several weeks and we thought this unit was a “good value”: superior in terms of comfortable, smooth operation, and sturdy design. (Pool W)

Needed an exercise machine to keep me in shape for soccer, snowboarding. This one has a large variety of strides I use to reduce boredom. Also able to set your own training pattern. (Flannery J)

In-the-box weight is about 170 pounds so you need help moving it around to unpack. Assembly was pretty easy and took about 1 1/2 hours. Comes with Allen wrench and Phillips screw driver on long end (wish they has separated the tools). The machine works fine, very quiet and easy to use.
The length is perfect at just over 5′, so it works much better than larger machines for homes without much floorspace. The digital display is a bit tough to read (it is not backlit), but the workout and adjustable degree of difficulty is comparable with more expensive machines.
